Am I going to feel silly?

Silliness is a very human concept and self-judging process. We may look silly during our activities from a human point of view, bonobos never do. The workshops are built in a way that brings you progressively to find your own inner bonobo and forget this sensation, or just not to pay much attention to it.

Are we allowed to speak during the workshops and what common language will be used?

We value communication and sharing, and dedicated times for them will be provided with human language. The common tongue is English, but translations in Spanish, Portuguese or French are possible if needed. However, the workshops themselves are non verbal. We will use our eyes, touch, squeals and gestures to communicate.

Is nudity involved?

The Workshops of the Bonobo Experience are clothing optional. You can expect nudity from other participants but you will not have to get naked if you don’t want to.

Is this retreat suitable for people under 18 years old.

The retreat is not suitable for people under 18 years old.

Will I be expected to behave like a bonobo for the duration of the retreat?

You will be expected to behave like a bonobo during the workshops. Before, in-between or after them, you will be free to go back to your human self, or not.

Do you make sure people are safe sexually?

Intimacy and sexual interactions during the workshops are monitored and we will provide safety and consent information at the very beginning of the retreat. What you do outside of them is your own responsibility. A welfare facilitator is always designated during the whole retreat if you need advice or if you feel insecure about anything.

Are there opportunities for me to have intimacy with others?

The focus of the workshops is quite group and community oriented, but feel free to have respectful and consensual intimacy whenever you wish so. However, the facilitators will never have intimacy, sexual or romantic involvement with any of the participants.

What level of sexual activity is involved?

The retreat is sex-positive, which means that we will accept and respect your sexuality and the sexuality of others without judgment, shame, violence, or discrimination. However, not having sex is also ok. We suggest what we call `mechanics` to simulate or represent a sexual act without the involvement of genitals.

Is this a spiritual retreat?

No, the Bonobo Experience is not a retreat that could be qualified as spiritual, but all spiritualities are  welcome.

How much physical activity is involved?

The physical activities required during the warm-ups and workshops is accessible to everybody and always adaptable. You get to choose the physical involvement you put in our scenarios, as you will decide which kind of bonobo you wanna be.

If I feel uncomfortable can I leave the group/activity?

Our retreat and all our workshops are based on consent and willingness. You can leave the group or the activity at any moment if you feel uncomfortable. One of the facilitators is always available during the times of workshop to welcome you and help you with the difficulties you may have.
